carb loading

did you know that in the last two weeks before your due date, pregnant woman are supposed to carbo load, like they're training for a marathon? yes, it's true. something like 60% of your calories are supposed to come from carbs.

i have been looking forward to this for nine months, people. how often in your life do you get a free pass to eat a lot of carbs? never. so here comes my chance! right around the bend!

however, no one told me that during this period, my stomach would be the size of a cell phone and shoved way up into my ribs, right under my lungs. the thought of eating a bowl of multigrain pasta or a couple of slices of toast makes me a little nauseated.

in conclusion: i declare BULLCRAP on the "you get to eat all the carbs you want!" carrot dangled in the face of pregnant women everywhere.

in other news: tonight, matthew and i met some other PPKers at it's a beautiful pizza and i ate two slices of pizza and now i kind of want to die, even though i had very little else today. which may have influenced this entry.

just have a baby already. you are SO in that stage of "look what i did for you!!!" it's hilarious. your fake mad self is too easy to spot.
2 pieces of pizza - be proud! store it for later. when you wish you had a whole pizza and a bowl of pasta in front of you. serious. just you wait.

oh this is a funny post, i'd be so pissed if i were you! can't you get some folks to help stretch you out so more can fit in your tummy? did y'all stick with the ravi shankar? i was chatting with michelle c., before she hit the road. dazee thinks that sounds like a nasty pizza ,btw.

michelle: my fake mad self is in full bloom, it's true. i also bargain with the baby, like: "______, i need you to calm down for a few minutes so i can make some tea, and then when i sit down, you can kick all you want!"

kittee! the ravi was not up to its usual standards but still: peanut butter on a pizza! dazee doesn't know what's up.

I'm so there with you, joanna! i want to eat and eat and then i try and i just can't fit it in and i feel like crap for trying. on saturday i ate a big breakfast. just couldn't get enough. 15 minutes later i threw it up. no room to keep it. i learned my lesson. bulging uterus taking over my entire body wins again!

carbo loading... yes as a marathon runner I confirm it is essential.. but when i hear of women that have 15 hour plus labors... that is without doubt, a marathon!

Hahaha, yes! It's such an uncomfortable stage. Eating more than a cup of food makes you feel like you're going to hurl.

And, in my case, since I have short arms, my belly was so big I could feel the heat from the burner when I was cooking and nearly burned it twice!

I don't envy you!

But, I will advise you to enjoy this time (if this is your first) because this is the last few moments of peace you're ever going to get. I have two kids 16 months apart. Ah, those days when I was pregnant alone in my silent house *sigh*
