December 18, 2007

it's here!

if you pre-ordered the book, there is a good chance that it arrived in your mailbox yesterday or today!

here i am holding the cookbook and milo on saturday when josh dropped off my copies, hot from the press:

and later that afternoon, we all went over to the herbivore store and i signed every single tester and pre-order copy:

i am bursting at the seams with the excitement and happiness of having a newborn and my first cookbook arriving in the world within a week of each other.

please let me know in the comments if your book arrived and you have any questions, or if you just want to let me know what recipe you're making first, or whatever else you'd like to say!

and of course, no matter how many people pore over the contents of books, some mistakes always slip through the cracks and escape attention until it's too late, so i'll be posting a whole page of corrections soon and we'll fix them for the second print run. if you catch errors, please do let me know, no matter how minor they seem!

I received my copy today but I was sad to see I didn't get a signed copy. Maybe you will be at Nutshell on the 22nd and you can sign it then? Anyway, I am going to go through it now and put together a shopping list!

We got the book yesterday and it is beautiful! The design is really incredible--from the illustrations to the photographs to the graphic design. I can't wait to start trying the recipes; and even closed the book is gorgeous -- when you fan the pages from the front, you see beautiful cinnamon lines and when you fan them from the back you see black and yellow flecks. It's artfully, artfully done, and almost as beautiful as that little one in your arms!

Joanna - It's just great! We had the butternut squash lasagna and collard greens last night - both delicious. I can see that I will become completely addicted to your Vegan Parmesan. And congrats on the baby also!

Joanna, I feel silly. I had no idea you'd put together a cookbook. Linked here off LJ (embarcadero).

A baby AND a book?! You are a life-champion and I will be ordering this for certain. This explains all those hot food-photos on flickr!

You are an inspiration. Congratulations!

I got my copy on Friday! SOOOOOO beautiful. It really is a piece of art. I'm not sure what to make first, but everything looks so great. And, I was honored that you used one of my photos. And Amanda's drawings are amazing. And you look very happy holding both of your babies. And Milo is beautiful (I know I've already said that like 100 times but it is so true!)

Joanna! What a surprise and treat to open your beautiful cookbook yesterday! I really cannot wait to start cooking from it--I was sneaking peaks while the (very non-vegan) rolls were rising and I was prepping the (very vegan--if you want the recipe, let me know!) tofu to fry southern style. A friend who came for Christmas dinner loves it, too, so I think I know what I'll be getting her for her birthday.

I literally squealed, "I used to chase her around the chior room!" when I saw your picture under the wrapping paper. I am so impressed--and your baby is precious. Give your mom a big hello for me! Love, Jill (jillhw@gmail.com)

I just got mine in the mail today. It was routed through my parents or I would have had it a few days ago. So I just looked through it, and OMG. Mojito pie?!!!!! <-- that's me being excited.

Yeah, that's going to be my first! Assuming I can find vegan graham crackers. Do you happen to have a brand you know is vegan? I have tj's, among other stores, if that helps.

The cookbook is gorgeous. I'm really excited to try some of the recipes. The mojito pie will definitely be first though! :D

I LOVE the book, and LOVE the picture of you with Milo, and yes you ARE just as cute as the illustrations in the book! What a happy mama! Since my own Christmas present arrived recently, I've not yet been able to cook anything from your lovely collection, however, I just know it's going to be in steady use around here! It's MY kind of cookbook! Basic ingredients, simple instructions, real food for real people. I just LOVE it! Thank you for putting it together.

I didn't preorder (now I wish I had but I was really broke before the Holidays so I just put it on my Christmas list), so I don't have a signed copy...

but I was just going to tell you, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOOOOOVE this cookbook. I knew I was going to love it just from the cover and the description. I love how it's unpretentious and doesn't have a lot of frufru ingredients, I love the easy to follow recipes, I love that it's good homestyle all vegan food. LOVE IT!!

And your baby is so beautiful! Congratulations!! I have two babies myself and looking at your precious little one is making me want to have another. Ok maybe I already wanted to have another one...because I'm crazy like that.

Anyway, congratulations again!!!!

I received my copy on the 24th Dec! I am in England so was really suprised to receive it so soon. It's quite funny trying to work out what the equivalent ingredients are over here. It's all part of the fun of owning it. Already made the twice baked potatoes (very yummy!) and the Berry Muffins (my new favourite cakes). Thanks for signing it as well. Congrats on the book and your lovely little baby. Hope all goes well with both :)

Congratulations, to your baby and your book!
He looks adorable sleeping in your arms =) And Milo... oh my he's lucky to have such an awesome name =)

I'm so excited to order your book. I'm from Germany though and it'll probably take quite some time to arrive. But still, can't wait!!! People have been complimenting this book non-stop and since I just started veganism I highly believe that this book will keep me vegan ;)

Enjoy motherhood =)
Greetings, Lizzy
