August 13, 2007

whoa!

testing has wrapped up for the cookbook, and i'll be submitting the final documents to my illustrious publisher in one week.

the cookbook will be coming out in mid-october and will be named, surprise surprise: yellow rose recipes. it will feature custom illustrations by my extremely talented friend amanda chronister, some of whose artwork can be seen in her flickr gallery. i am convinced that in ten years, no one will believe that fancy pants amanda did illustrations for a podunk little cookbook like mine. i just wish that i were 1/10th as adorable in real life as i am in her illustrations.

anyway, i will still be updating the blog sporadically up to its launch, and will have a more firm release date as that time approaches, but in the meantime, here is a recipe to tide you over. it involves absolutely no cooking whatsoever, for those of you who don't turn on your oven between may and september:

Chipotle Ranch Sandwich Spread
enough for 8-10 sandwiches

1/2 cup silken tofu
1/4 cup vegan mayonnaise
1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, chopped
2 Tbs fresh parsley
1/2 tsp agave nectar
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp dill
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp thyme
pinch freshly ground black pepper

Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender until smooth. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Chipotle Ranch Dipping Sauce: Blend in 1/4 cup soymilk at the end.
