Happy Thanksgiving, Y'all
I just wanted to pop in and recommend Brian McCarthy's Vegan Turkey Roast recipe which is over at Everyday Dish. I make a (tweaked) version of it for my family, and it's a big hit any time of year, not just at the holidays. I'll be making it on Thursday for sure, basted with a mixture of oil, soy sauce, and liquid smoke, and dressed with Mushroom Dressing.
There will be 21 people at our Thanksgiving this year: my parents, my partner and child, both of my siblings and their families, my cousins, and some friends of the family. I'm making my white bean dip, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus, and Fat Free Vegan's (again, tweaked) green bean casserole for the whole group, and then I'm also making a roast and gravy just for my little family. It's going to be nuts! Luckily, I've already done all of my grocery shopping, so I can just spend the next few days cooking and putzing around. In my cowboy hat. Did I not mention that I bought a cowboy hat and have been wearing it nonstop? Yeah, I don't know what's happened to me, either.
